Essentially, the only way to obtain a season of happiness, is to allow yourself to not resist that season of hardship. Life can sometimes shove a person so deep underground that their only solution is to not face what is actually happening, to not try and face the direction of the light. Often times we fall prey to the option of just giving up, of not being hopeful. As humans, we tend to focus more on the bad than the good, on what’s missing but not focusing on what’s there. We fail to realize that every season that comes our way is nothing more than what Allah swt wants for us. Many challenges that we face, lead us to the most amazing paths of our lives, to the opportunities we thought we’d never get and more importantly, for most, that one obstacle can be the step we needed to gain a closer relationship to Allah swt. The concept of happiness, the same as hardship can never be limited to just one definition or one feeling. Everyone experiences these emotions differently, where I could potentially find happiness could be a dark road for the next person and vice versa. When in a state of hardship, the only thing we long for is but a glimpse of happiness, a taste of freedom from the eternal pain we so silently feel, but what we tend to forget is Allah, the turner of all affairs can take that hardship and turn it into ease in a matter of seconds, all by just remembering Him and putting our faith and trust in Him with full confidence that He will provide better days, for indeed Allah swt says in the Quran “verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” {Surah Rad 13:28}. But the same way we turn to Him in state of hardship, we should turn to Him when we are happy, for even in still water will waves come crashing down on you, so we remember Allah and we thank Him for everything that He blesses us with on a daily basis, for something as simple as waking up. Both these seasons exist in one, it all depends on how we see it, but surely we should remember that Allah swt reminded us not once, but He reminded us twice “for indeed with hardship will be ease, indeed with hardship will be ease.” {Surah Ash Sharh 94:5-6}
